oh no! with domestication comes stupidity!
haha i hope not, because i still want to, believe it or not, study. i kind of miss writing history tutorials and lit essays, not forgetting gp essay outlines (dolls' cry of 'keyword aNAlysis' comes to mind in an instant) and my colourful and vibrant (urgh?!) econs notes, in a bid to make the topic more interesting (then again, it probably was, just that i was really bad at it).
when i was packing my history notes, which has been in a pile by my desk since mugging began and keeping neat ceased (my notes went everywhere after i ran out of files) that day, i realised i actually missed looking at them. from attempts at ah lian jokes (jx would perfectly understand haha) to ngoei's highly entertaining footnotes in the ih notes... a classic part from my jc life haha.
then i realised, i still didn't have enough files in the house, so i just stacked them into the notes box. and i probably need another big box, with my secondary notes still nicely intact and proud of it. and i even threw out my geog stuff to make space for the erm greater essentials hurhur.
so it's with strange nostalgia that i wonder about all my friends who still have school the next day, be it as a student or teacher, and how i have the liberty to do what i want and go out while they still have student concession for bus and mrt rides, gasps -.- haha being a student rocks, looking at how all the concessions, monetary and otherwise, make up for the fact that you're not being paid for the work you're doing.
beats being the family maria hands down.
on the other hand, it's been raining non-stop and like free (it's not, considering the losses the flooding is causing) and it's wet and cold! brrrr... and when you watch apocalyptic weather movies like the day after tomorrow, you want to go "there's an ice age coming!" and you begin to figure, your brother probably is drowning in malacca for oep and he's also probably not going to head to muar on the last day, muahahar.
on the other hand, westside story has one of the best music and lyrics among musicals i've watched / heard. must be because it's by leonard bernstein, must be because it's a way-simpler-english-version of romeo and juliet, must be because it was one of the songs played during the last concert (fun fact: it was by the ib band (: subconscious influence man). and here's my favourite haha.
America from Westside Story
ROSALIA
Puerto Rico,
You lovely island
Island of tropical breezes.
Always the pineapples growing,
Always the coffee blossoms blowing
oh, it gets better hurhur
ANITA
Puerto Rico
You ugly island
Island of tropic diseases.
Always the hurricanes blowing,
Always the population growing
And the money owing,
And the babies crying,
And the bullets flying.
I like the island Manhattan.
Smoke on your pipe and put that in!
I like to be in America!
O.K. by me in America!
Ev'rything free in America
For a small fee in America!
ROSALIA
I like the city of San Juan.
ANITA
I know a boat you can get on.
ROSALIA
Hundreds of flowers in full bloom.
ANITA
Hundreds of people in each room!
Automobile in America,
Chromium steel in America,
Wire-spoke wheel in America,
Very big deal in America!
ROSALIA
I'll drive a Buick through San Juan.
ANITA
If there's a road you can drive on.
ROSALIA
I'll give my cousins a free ride.
ANITA
How you get all of them inside?
Immigrant goes to America,
Many hellos in America;
Nobody knows in America
Puerto Rico's in America!
ROSALIA
I'll bring a T.V. to San Juan.
ANITA
If there a current to turn on!
ROSALIA
I'll give them new washing machine.
ANITA
What have they got there to keep clean?
I like the shores of America!
Comfort is yours in America!
Knobs on the doors in America,
Wall-to-wall floors in America!
ROSALIA
When I will go back to San Juan.
ANITA
When you will shut up and get gone?
ROSALIA
Everyone there will give big cheer!
ANITA
Everyone there will have moved here!
hilarious haha. listening to it and imagining it on stage is even better. and it's quite ironic that that movie the day after tomorrow was about how america freezes over and needed to depend on mexico to take in the refugees hurhur.
